Stourbridge Lawn Tennis & Squash Club Ltd

Hello Members

Well the summer is definitely now behind us and we are hurtling towards Christmas with lots of events being scheduled - but more about that later.

For the moment we have to cope with all the joys that the Autumn has to offer though mists and mellow fruitfulness seems to be elsewhere. On Monday it felt quite apocalyptic on the tennis courts with light which felt like twilight in the middle of the morning and an orange sun - all that was blown away by the tail winds of storm Ophelia. How exciting...

Anyway members please be patient with me because I have a lot to cover..

Car Park -

Finally we have a car park that we can all be proud of and no more potholes to worry about. You may have noticed that we have made the spaces ample to cope with members large and beautiful vehicles. We would ask that you observe these lines and park appropriately - it is very important that all spaces which have yellow hatchings are kept clear - these spaces are to allow access for emergency vehicles, or to allow for evacuation of the building in the event of fire. Clearly we all hope that neither of these events will happen but we must plan for the worst and hope for the best..... At the risk of causing offence - please try harder to observe car park etiquette!

Squash Courts-

The Squash Courts have had their annual maintenance and it has become clear that it is really hard to keep them pristine. Some members have strayed indoors with shoes which have been worn outside or on the sandy courts. Please make sure that you have shoes which are for indoor use only when playing squash or racketball. Also it has become very apparent that the yellow headed broom/dusters cause more problems than they solve so they are withdrawn. We have taken advice from Courtmasters and all courts will be vacuumed daily.

HOT DOG DAY - Saturday 11th November

An auspicious date for your diary - we hope that you will support this very worthwhile charity event. We will be having our usual favourites - walk, raffle, cake stall, bike ride etc.

If you can help or donate prizes or bake a cake please contact Carolyn Alden 01562 720102

Future Planning

Please I'm only trying to help.... there are a few helpful items to see you through the chaos of Christmas - yes I'm a huge fan.

We will be collating a Christmas email card to save sending cards to people we see every day - we ask for a donation which we will pass on to charity. It saves the planet, time and benefits a good cause. If you would like to send a message to all members please contact the office.

We are having our annual Christmas Fayre on Monday 27th November from 11.00am . This is a great opportunity to buy some presents for your nearest and dearest - and for others! If you would like to book a table please contact Carolyn Alden on 01562 720102.

For those of you who still, like me, like to have a quaint old fashioned diary to remember lunch dates, matches and nail/hair appointments we have diaries for sale. Same format and price as last year. Available from the office.

PLEASE NOTE THE GYM WILL BE CLOSED ON 31 OCTOBER FOR ESSENTIAL CLEANING

There will be no access for personal training and no classes - apologies for any inconvenience. The gym will reopen at 8.00am on 1 November.

We are launching two new classes -

Tennis

You may have noticed that the lights on Court 1 have changed - the Tennis Committee would like your feed back good or bad. If you would like to make your thoughts known please send them to us by email at our normal address and I will forward them.

Finally - its half term and Kirk and Grant will be running their very popular Junior holiday camps.
